Asian Academy of Film and TV (AAFT)
AAFT is the acronym for Asian Academy of Film and Television. This film and television institute is one of the premier professional development centers for independent screen production in Northern India. It came into being in 1993 and is also the first private media school and that too unmatched by any other film school in the country. The institute is headquartered at Film City, NOIDA, which is a part of National Capital Region. Within a span of almost more than a decade the institute has established itself as a pioneer in the craft of media studies. Actually AAFT provides an alternative pathway to the film and television industry through education, equipment and production resources. Several renowned personalities and veterans of the trade also support it. Recently it has also been standardized as an international level of training center by the 125-year-old City & Guilds of the United Kingdom.

Today, AAFT caters a wide range of programs from short term to long-term duration. The course and programs offered by the academy vary from a three-month course to one year programs. These programs incorporate direction to production, acting to presentation, animation to television graphics, 2D graphics to 3D graphics (MAYA), video to audio editing, photography to cinematography, camera to lighting techniques, sound recording to radio production, screen play writing, and many more such related courses. With this array of courses, programs and services, AAFT is in the process of achieving its mission of developing an innovative and diverse screen culture in this part of the world.

The academy has a diverse enrollment of students. Both Indian and international students’ presence is felt in the institute campus. They come from more than 70 countries, representing virtually almost every continent. This varied students’ populace gives the academy a dynamic mix of cultures, languages and sensibilities. The academy provides a comprehensive introduction to the institute and to the city and especially to the country, India for the first timers. The institute considers its primary task is to offer a homely atmosphere to the students, irrespective of their nationality. Even our management acts as a bridge for the new students and to get them adjusted to their new environs and life at the institute.

As a student here at AAFT, you will study under master storytellers who have honed their crafts over a lifetime of award-winning work and who have a combined filmography of many diverse feature films. Our location within NOIDA Film City helps to enable internships with studios and production companies as well as on-campus visits from major Indian Film Industry directors, cinematographers, editors, screenwriters, digital artists, public relations and advertisement executives and others very smoothly.

Similarly we employ numerous permanent full-time and many national and international visiting faculties and crew for different AAFT projects and courses. The main aim of the faculty is to facilitate the students to attain and get an insight of the media and society and to train them for a livelihood of their own. Moreover, hostel accommodation is available and which is very close to the academy and that too with a round-the-clock security service.

Furthermore, we at AAFT help the students to get well placed in the media channels or production houses. The academy has tie up with numerous media recruiters like BBC World, CNBC, ESPN, B4U, Aaj Tak, and Team Works Films, B.A.G. Films, United Television, and many more. Hence, a crunch of the students is well settled with various media organizations or doing freelance jobs with several renowned industry professionals. Besides to all these, AAFT publishes various publications for media research purposes and also manages an International Film & Television Club for the propagation of good films and to interact and exchange views between international films and television professionals. So in a nutshell we at AAFT are in the process of creating our sole relevance to the screen industry through our internationally recognized programs and workshops and other related activities.
